Travellers Rest Civil War Role-Playing Game 2007

Character: Contraband Smuggler

CSA Smuggler Facts:

* Confederate sympathizers in occupied Nashville tried to keep their identities secret because they risked arrest by the Union Army.

* Women highly involved with smuggling.
* Smuggling difficult because usually had to get pass to travel outside of the city.

Sample Dialogue:

So, how are you this fine day? Where are you headed? It’s hard to find money here since the Yankees took over the town. Let me ask you this; are you a secessionist or a Unionist? I know one way you can earn money. See these crude pieces of iron? I am trying to smuggle them to a secret storage space on the Overton plantation. If all goes well, they will eventually find their way to a factory down South to make Minnie balls for our boys in gray. Can I trust you?

I’m worried that if I try to walk by those guards, they will arrest me, since I’m a known rebel in these parts. If you can get these to the smokehouse over there, my operative will pay you. Just say to her, “Is it hog killin’ time yet?”, and she will know what you mean. She will bring out a bucket, place the iron in the bucket, and she will pay you. If you want to keep one as a souvenir, I don’t mind. Now tell no one of this conversation.
